Whereas Lakeshore recently removed its oil from its recycling program; And whereas residents are raising concerns that this programs removal is a serious concern to them; And whereas Lakeshore has no public used oil drop off location; And whereas the benefits of recycling used oil are many like recycling keeps it from polluting soil and water. Motor oil does not wear out—it just gets dirty—so recycling it saves a valuable resource. Less energy is required to produce a gallon of re-refined base stock than a base stock from crude oil; Be it resolved that Lakeshore Administration bring back a report on how we put back our oil recycling program; and Be it further resolved that the report may include information regarding how paint and other hazardous household materials can be included in the recycle pickup.
